The United States is currently facing a mental health crisis, and clinical mental health counselors help Americans access lifesaving treatment. According to Mental Health America (MHA), more than half of adults in the United States with mental illness do not receive treatment, representing more than 27 million adults. Younger populations in the United States also face higher rates of mental illness in recent years; more than 2.5 million young people suffer from severe depression and multiracial groups are most at risk.
In addition to rising rates of mental illness, the United States is experiencing an increase in substance abuse. According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics (NCDAS)More than 70,000 drug overdose deaths occur in the United States each year, and drug and alcohol abuse has increased during the pandemic.
good therapy More than 115 million people in the United States live in designated healthcare worker shortage areas. These are areas in which the ratio of mental health professionals per inhabitant is less than 1 per 30,000 inhabitants. The solution is simple – we need more trained mental health professionals.
