Rise Up Springfield Small Business Development Program accepting applications

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) — A business development program for small business owners is now accepting applications for their next round of training programs.

“Rise Up Springfield” is a partnership between the City of Springfield’s Office of Planning and Economic Development, Valley Venture Mentors (VVM), and Interise. They will offer an intensive six-month program that teaches business owners how to advance their business operations, financial management, marketing and sales, human resource tactics, developing business strategies, accessing capital and the development of contracts using. The program utilizes the StreetWise MBA™ curriculum designed specifically for established small business owners to achieve growth-oriented goals.

The program had operated in 2017 and 2019 but was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor of Sarno says, “CDO Tim Sheehan, Deputy Director Brian Connors, Office of Planning and Economic Development and I are thrilled and excited to bring this program back to our small business toolbox in Springfield. Small businesses are the engine of our economy, our biggest job creators, and we know how valuable that can be in taking a small business to the next level.

The program is expected to start in March. Eligible businesses must have been in business for three years, generate $150,000 to $10 million in revenue, and have at least one full-time employee other than the owner. Businesses must either be located in Springfield or be connected to Valley Venture mentors.

An introductory online information session will take place on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Register for the session here. Interested small businesses can start applying online now by visiting the application website.
